Yay! I did my 8 miler on Saturday! I actually ended up with a total of 8.73 miles. Can you say...PUMPED!
Average pace for this run was 14:13/mi.
My splits:
1 - 15:07
2 - 14:11
3 - 15:31
4 - 13:50
5 - 13:37
6 - 13:26
7 - 13:32
8 - 13:51
Nubbin - 11:08
I see a pattern here. It takes me a while to get in a groove...During the first three miles I stopped a few times to take a couple of pictures. The ones I was really hoping would turn out...didn't. When I started my run it was overcast (stayed that way too), and since it had misted everything was damp. I saw a lot of spiderwebs in the trees that had the water beaded up on them. Really pretty! I wish I had had my good camera with me, but that would have been hard to carry. The few pictures I got with my phone don't show the detail. The webs fade into the background. FAIL!
But all is not lost. I did get a few other pictures for your enjoyment.
Start/stop point:
A little hidey hole off the side of the trail:
Part of the trail:
Buffalo Bayou - the trail wanders alongside or crosses over at many points:
The trail I ran on Saturday is another section of the one I ran on the 7th. I like this one better because it's not as straight, and it has more variety. But both sections are good, and I will run there again.
Saturday is a 4 miler. The hubs has said he'll come with me again and do the full distance with me. He did come with me on the 8 miler, but he did 3 and then went home. He hasn't run in a while, so he made the right decision. I LOVE the support!
Have a great week!
